Stay-at-home Moms…

Make sure you get free time away from your kiddos. Oh my gosh, is it so important!!!! I find that when I am able to get a little time away, I am a better mom. We all need a break.

If you can’t afford a babysitter, find a friend who is on the same page as you and trade a few days where you take their kiddos for a couple hours and vice-versa. Or maybe a relative that lives close by would be willing to watch them for a few hours here and there. Buy them lunch sometime to pay them back. There are ways to make it work. I also know that my church has a program called “Mom’s Morning Out” where you only pay about $20 bucks or so to let your child hang out from 9-12. Not sure but it might be even cheaper? My point is, there are ways to make it happen.

Don’t feel guilty to not be with your children 24 hours a day. If you are loving them and caring for them in all the right ways, a few hours away from mommy won’t hurt them.

Also, one thing I am finding as a stay-at-home mom is that I must have hobbies and interests outside of my children. Reading, writing, painting, riding your bike, taking walks, playing an instrument, sowing, knitting, coloring etc. I LOVE my children, but it’s not healthy to have no other interests outside of them.

Imagine when they’re ready to pack up and move out…then what? If your whole life is only wrapped around their activities you might find yourself feeling as if you don’t know who you are.

Being a mom is not an easy job. In fact, it’s the hardest job I’ve ever done in my life. It’s the best job ever, but at times I need a break, so I can be the best mom to my precious children. And so do you. xoxo

P.S. Moms, who work outside of the home as well, I haven’t forgotten about you. You work your tail off too and also need a break. Just wanted to encourage those of us who are full time stay at home moms to make time for a little “me time.”
